Whether we like it or not, whether we want it or not, we’re pretty much have a racist culture. We probably don’t have the black and white thingee much, but we certainly struggle to look beyond the stereotype. We filter people by their gender, family names, social status, accents…etc. Sometimes subconsciously, and sometimes, seriously consciously!
Writers at “strange” newspapers (click here) are forcing the Noriya Al Sabee7’s issue in that direction! (my yesti7oon)!!! Now I don’t know Noriya and I don’t care to defend her, but I did read el estijwab and found absolutely nothing in it except the obvious; targeting the fact that she’s a woman, and without 7jab. Just like what happened to Ma3soma Mubarak – only she was a woman and Shiite! Flat out racism!
Now yes, I’m angry coz religious fanatics are not giving women a chance. When I say religious fanatics, I’m not stereotyping, I’m describing a fundamental difference in believes!
BUT, most of our majlis is made of those fanatics… and most of those are salaf.. and most of those are beduins… because Wahhabisim throughout history has flourished within that culture and completely distorted it to become the beduism we see today! (new terminology… yalla estansaw)
So when Ali Al Rashid says (we) and (them) (click here); he’s saying we-liberals, and them-fanatics, and not we-7athar and them-bedo!!!!!!!!!!!!
The writers (ham click here) are playing on this to get whoever is stupid enough to buy this story, to support them.
Again, when I say stupid, I’m not stereotyping, I’m just stating an obvious fact.
Oh but it doesn’t stop there does it? Nooooo... it’s now also rich vs. poor!!!!! They’re claiming that if you write in Al-Jareedah then you’re being paid by “7aramyat al mal al 3am”, and that you’re either one of them or (Seby 3indihom)!!
How cheap is that shot??????
This proves, without a doubt, that they have absolutely no purpose in life other than to piss off simple folks like myself (ok shwayya paranoid?). Oh and when I say they, I don’t mean to stereotype. It’s a war between fanatics and everyone else!
Fanatics against women,
Fanatics against the Shiite,
Fanatics against the Beduins,
Fanatics against Democracy,
Fanatics against Kuwait!

Hold on babe. I was in the past part of el minbar and I’m still voting for them in each election. But I promise you in this election I will never vote for them. I rather give my vote to Fahad Elkhanah. Do you know why? Because they did join Elta7alof el wa6ani. Elta7alof is a racist organization. That strives on calling people names and discriminate with respect to the last name and wealth. El ta7alof is not as it used to be, ta7alof of all the nationalists movements in Kuwait, it became the bourgeoisies alliance. Clear example is Mohammad ElSaqir. Form the beginning of this hearing the man supported Noriyah not because she was good but because of her last name.
Yes we do have racism and this thing showed up clearly in this hearing. I mean it is the first time that this happen from people or parliament members who say that they are Patriots. They think that they are Kuwait and Kuwait is them.
Bas ma agool ela allah Yar7imik ya Sami el miniyes. Wallah if he is still alive he would spit on their faces. Enti ga3ati ma3a Mohammad el sager? The first thing that he will ask you is enti min wildah? What the fuck! I was working with el minbar for years and no one asked me that question and now, with el ta7alof ana sirt min weildah!!!!
It is not about 7athir wila bado or 7athir ma3a shi3ah. It is about bourgeoisies and proletarians. Let us see how they will win the next elections. I pledge that I will make their lives hell and they will lose a lot because of their racist approach to our Kuwaitis…
And yes it is a war against racisms in Kuwait. Against people like Mohammad El Sageir
Dear Anon,
I'm not defending el ta7alof at all, and i'm not saying that el sager is far from acting this way. But this shouldn't be what the whole hearing is about. Noriya hasn't done anything (to my knowledge) to deserve this war against her.
From what you're saying, it sounds that the new definition of liberalism in Kuwait is limited to those who can afford it. I strongly resent that and i've written about it before.
As for Sami el Mnayyes, he was a rare man and I loved him deeply for everything he stood for. Alf ra7ma 3alaih.
Now we have to find an alternative in that case, if ta7alof = tejjar, then we need another form for us- the poor ones :-)
now ta7alof is bad !! and racist ?! come on , maybe el ta7alof isn't what we hoped but it's far from what r u saying anonymous ,, al-sager ?! i don't rate him that much aswell ,, what ta7aluf did is playing politics , trying to get more poeple into thier side , neogotating with other parties such as salaf ekhwan sha3bi ,, racist ?? only tejar ?? u went too far mate ... maybe ther r some members with ent men wilda attitude but i assure u that most of the new generation r not
Arfana,
I'm not agreeing with Alam al Al Youm's approach here, but I too found the us/them tone a bit repulsive. I wish our friends were more careful with their words.
Anonymous,
My war is definitely not against al Sager or al Tahalof, but I am relating to your comment on many levels.
Having said that, al Tahalof is still young. Reform should be feasible.
Shame on me!
Happy new year babe :**
My dear brainless,
I have many resevations on ta7aluf in terms of some of its rep's, but since it is young, it has to maintain the "watani" factor and not continue to be lead by tejjar or some of those who we can't completely trust. El Sager is one of those i personally don't trust. Which makes me reluctant to faithfully support them.
Regardless, the issue here is about Noriya and how them fundamentalist are distorting facts and the truth! We shouldn't lose sight of that. This goes for you too anonymous :-)
And where are my manners, happy new year dear :-)
My dearest shorouq,
first of all, happy new year to you too. Come join the party if you're in the mood :-)
Second, as i read those articles in 3alam el yom, the expression "khalt el awrag" came to my mind! I find this distortion really repulsive.
Third, email me your number, i have an intersting project i want your help in if you're interested ;-)
Hi 7obi, whether kuwaitis on the photos or not, it goes to prove people will find their way of finding FUN no matter what is done to suffocate them. The more openness there is the less "radical" they need to be.
حتى لو كويتيين اهمه شكو ؟.
ummel3yal,
I totally agree. The more they push, the more "Fun" will be a dirty word!

وانا بعد وياكم
basically, they are after freedom..any freedom of any kind...freedom is their number one enemy and they are seeking to kill it even within ...even in our souls convincing us that we shouldn't even think for ourselves..
and when i say they, i mean them...the fundamintalists, the religious fanatics and no one else :)
well-said
whity dear,
i'm sorry for not replying earlier. For some reason i just saw your comment :-)
I totally agree, and we have to find a way to fight this constitutionally.
