بعد محاولات متكررة لفهم انتشار ظاهرة القبلية الإسلامية الدخيلة، وجدت هذا التحليل المثير ضمن رواية "فسوق" لعبده خال. ولعل أجزاء كثيرة منه تكون صحيحة

حينما استدعت المدينة البدو والريفيين، حدث اجتثاث: تم نقل ثقافة ساكنة إلى ثقافة متحركة، فتحولت المدينة في أذهانهم إلى رمز الفساد والانحلال. والخشية من سلوكها جعل الثقافة الساكنة تنكمش داخل ذاتها، في أنماطها السلوكية الثابتة، قبعت متخوفة من المتطور والمتغير. كان اجتثاثا مضاعفا، حين أصبح العصر أكثر سرعة وتواصلا، ومع ثورة الاتصالات حدث تقليب وتجريف مهولان في الثقافة الكلاسيكية، والتي لم تصمد بأدواتها البدائية أمام طوفان المتغيرات. صاحبتها رغبة ملحة لدى الكثيرين للتمتع بما حرموا منه ردحا طويلا من الزمن. ولكي تهرّب الثقافة الساكنة ذاتها، حملت لواء التحريم، كمقابل رادع، لإيقاف الاجتثاث العالمي ... لكل زمن أدواته، وهذا الزمن مكشوف، يحتاج لعري كامل ليعبر عن كينونته... أبونا آدم كان في عالم مكشوف ولم يكن بحاجة إلى ستر عريه. وحينما دخل إلى الزمن البطيء، احتاج لشيء يتناسب مع اللغز، مع الأحجية المقبلة

وحين وجد القادمون إلى المدينة أنهم مطحونون بين ساكن ومتغير، اختل توازنهم النفسي. ومن غير دراية، أخذ كل واحد يبحث عن منفذ، يطل من خلاله على الحياة..غير مكترثين بالأداة التي نحطم بها الجدران المحيطة بنا لإحداث فجوة. وليس مهما بأي الطرق نقتفيها، لنتلصص من فرجات النوافذ

الذاكرة العارية هي ذاكرة الأصل، ذاكرة الحرية، بينما الذاكرة الحافظة هي ذاكرة الأنظمة والمنع

وفي ظل التغيرات الجديدة في السعودية، أتساءل... كيف سنتأثر بهذه التغييرات؟ هل سيأتينا المزيد من المتطرفين؟ أم ستتفكك عقد الحلوين اللي عندنا؟

This has been an extremely full year. Still hoping for further growth on many levels: personal, national, and international.

Nevertheless, and away from banned parties, politics and politicians, and overall country-wide depression…and until next year, I leave you all with this prayer:

On Freedom of Speech

In any society freedom of thought will probably be of direct significance only for a small minority. But this does not mean that anyone is competent, or ought to have power, to select those to whom this freedom is to be reserved . . . To deprecate the value of intellectual freedom because it will never mean for everybody the same possibility of independent thought is completely to miss the reasons which give intellectual freedom its value. What is essential to make it serve its function as the prime mover of intellectual progress is not that everybody maybe able to think or write anything, but that any cause or idea may be argued by somebody So long as dissent is not suppressed, there will always be some who will query the ideas ruling their contemporaries and put new ideas to the test of argument and propaganda.

This interaction of individuals, possessing different knowledge and different views, is what constitutes the life of thought. The growth of reason is a social process based on the existence of such difference.
